Our Logo and It's Meaning
The ge l'wa (canoe) is a historical symbol for the Haisla people.
In earlier times it was used for transportation during hunting, fishing and visiting.
The mountain across the Village had the outline of a ge l 'wa bottom that was used as a marker; when the sun set in the ge l 'wa the Haisla knew that the oolican were coming.
The geejwah (sun) is now the symbol of light or knowledge.
